Frozen and Burst Pipes Keeping Plumbers Busy

CINCINNATI (Larry Davis) -- The arctic weather in the tri-state is beginning to take its tole on home owners.

Water pipes are bursting everywhere and adding to the misery.  Plumbers say there are some things you can do to help prevent any headache.

If you have no running water in cold weather, if at all possible, shut the water off to the house.

Pipes against outside walls are prone to freezing.  Outside cracks and openings must be sealed.  But you can also help from inside the home.  Open up cabinets that will expose pipes so that warmer air can get to them.

One thing you must do to prevent pipes from breaking is to let it drip.  If you have a sink connected to an outside wall, let it drip because running water in the pipes will keep it from freezing.
