Purdue Shooter a Graduate of Springboro High School
SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WKRC) -- The tri-state is connected to Tuesday's deadly shooting at Purdue University.
We've learned that the suspect in the murder is a Springboro High School graduate.
Cody Cousins is accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Andrew Boldt inside the school's electrical engineering building. The shooting happened around noon.
The school sent text messages about the shooting to students asking them to take shelter where they were.
Cousins was a student at Purdue. Boldt was a Teaching Assistant.
"This appears to be an isolated and intentional act. We have developed information through several witnesses that the victim seemed to have been targeted by the suspect. It was no more, no less than that," said Chief John Cox.
Nick Welland, a Purdue student, said, "Well I was in the room adjacent to the one that the shooting took place. I heard a couple gunshots, I heard a man scream and then there were a couple more gunshots I don't know how many were taken."
Cousins is charged with murder.
Hundreds of people have gathered on Purdue University's campus for a vigil remembering Andrew Boldt Tuesday night. He was a senior at the school.
Purdue has cancelled all classes for Wednesday.
