Former teacher begins serving sentence for sexual battery
CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKRC) -- The former Colerain High School teacher convicted of
sexual battery involving a student, turned herself in today to begin her prison sentence. Julie Hautzenroeder was sentenced to two years in the Marysville prison last month.
Hautzenroeder maintained that her relationship with two former students was inappropriate but not illegal. The jury disagreed and convicted her on one of the two charges of sexual battery she faced.
During her sentencing, she asked the judge to spare her prison time so that she could care for her 8-year-old daughter. The judge said he believed that would send the wrong message.
Once Hautzenroeder serves her prison time, she'll spend five years on probation. She will also have to register as a tier three sex offender.
