Woman Carjacked Outside Hospital on her Birthday

HARTWELL, Ohio (WKRC) -- 84-year-old Katherine Kraus was leaving Drake Center about 8:30 Monday morning after visiting someone there when she was carjacked.

Police say a man told her he needed her car for an emergency and implied he had a gun.  He grabbed her, pulled her out of her car and took it from the Galbraith Road hospital with her purse inside.

Kraus' arm was cut during the attack; it's said to be a minor injury.  Police are searching for a red, 2012 Volkswagon Jetta with an Ohio license plate of FPT-5773.

The robber is described as a black male, about six feet tall, wearing a dark hoodie and jeans with red writing on the back pockets.

To add insult to injury, Monday is Katherine Kraus' birthday.
