Search for Cause of Mansion Fire Continues
INDIAN HILL, Ohio (WKRC) -- Firefighters say they still don't know what caused that fire that tore through a 22-room home in Indian Hill.
Investigators from local departments and the state fire marshal's office are sifting through what s left of the 10,000 square foot home. They say the fire draws attention because of its size, but they're handling this probe the way they deal with all fires.
The fire chief updated reporters Monday afternoon. He says the huge fire got a head start on firefighters because it was detected so late.
Chief Steve Ashbrock said, "If you build a fire or something catches on fire and we don't know about it for an hour then what you do is you see what we saw and that's a fire that's way ahead of the game. And it kind of doesn't matter then how much water you have in some cases whether you can be effective in fighting that fire."
Firefighters say it will take at least the next several days to determine a cause.
