Immunotherapy Study Helping Reduce Peanut Allergies

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Up to 19 percent of children with peanut allergies were able to tolerate the equivalent of five peanuts after six months of oral immunotherapy.

The study in the Lancet also found the majority of the children were able to tolerate the equivalent of 10 peanuts after receiving a daily dose of peanut protein.

The study's authors say the findings are positive, but more research is needed and people should not try to build up a tolerance without medical supervision.
