One of two people found shot in Clifton has died
CLIFTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- Police tell us one of two people shot in Avondale has died and it is now a homicide investigation.
Police and SWAT officers cleared the scene at the Colonial Village apartments in Avondale, where the shooting suspects may be, around 3:45p.m.
Police were called to Woolper Street, near Clifton Avenue, shortly after noon when two people were found shot. Two people have been taken into custody involving the shooting. Officers were looking for a third suspect.
A witness says the two victims were shot down the street in Avondale, then drove up Woolper looking for help.
The witness says one of the victims was shot in the neck and wasn't breathing when he was rushed to the hospital. The second victim was walking around after the shooting after being shot in the leg and was also taken to the hospital.
Assistant Chief Paul Humphries said, "We don't just show up, put on the ninja suits and kick in the door. We do it very safely, the best practices, and everything else. We use negotiators to try and make contact first. We always want a peaceful resolution in this. And the ultimate goal for this is a safe end to a situation like that."
Assistant Chief Humphries said it was the public that helped the police a lot in this situation. They led them to the Colonial Village apartment complex.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
