WARNING to Parents about Providing Alcohol

HAMILTON, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A mother is accused of providing the alcohol and the place for underage people to party.

Now, that local woman says she is not to blame for the death of a young man who left that party and died in a crash.

Doreen A. Schafer, 52, has been charged after police determined she provided beer for her daughter and several underage friends.  20-year-old Aaron Jones crashed his vehicle into a large stone sign after leaving the party New Year's Eve.  He died as a result of the crash.

Agent-in-Charge, Harold Torrens, said, "This is a real tragedy that could have been prevented.  Parents need to realize there are consequences to proving alcohol to underage individuals."

Schafer spoke to Local 12 Thursday from the doorway of her home.  She did not want to be on camera.  She said the party was for her daughter who was returning to college.  But Schafer adamantly denies buying or serving any alcohol to anyone at the party.

Doreen Schafer will appear in Fairfield Municipal Court February 12th.
