Erlanger K9 to get bulletproof vest

ERLANGER, Ky. (WKRC) -- ASCO, a police dog with the Erlanger police department will be the first in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to get a bulletproof vest  through the  Vested Interest organization, Tuesday evening.

ASCO goes out with his handler, Officer Chad Girdler. He's trained to find drugs and apprehend suspects.

Resident and animal advocate, Linda Krivsky learned about Vested Interest out of Massachusetts. She called and asked what she needed to do to get a vest for ASCO.  The vests are rewarded through an application process. Krivsky also had to collect $950. She did so in three days. The vests retail for $2500.

ASCO will get his vest at the Erlanger city council meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m.
