Special Olympics Athletes Compete on Slopes

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (Scott Dimmich) -- Special Olympians from Northern Kentucky hit the slopes Monday at Perfect North.

For the 17th straight year participants and volunteers of the Special Olympics went to Perfect North Slopes to have some fun.  But because of the cold temperatures Monday and Tuesday they had to bundle two days worth of activities into one.

It was the 34th year of the Winter Games overall.  Practice and time trials are usually on Monday while races are on Tuesday.  But it all happened on Monday this year because of the extreme weather.

It was a place that everyone enjoyed competing in, cheering for one another, and do the best they could in friendly competition.

Lots of food and a dance event is planned for Monday evening at 6:30p.m.

The Awards Ceremony for Monday's winners is to be help on Tuesday at 10p.m. at Perfect North.
