Driver Sentenced for Head On Crash that Killed One

GALLATIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) -- A ten year sentence is handed down today for a man who admitted his role in the accident that killed one person and injured three others.

22-year-old Hunter Legrand pleaded guilty last month to charges of manslaughter, assault, criminal mischief, and leaving the scene of an accident.  Prosecutors say Legrand's SUV crossed the center line on a highway in Gallatin County in July of 2012.  It hit an ambulance head-on, causing the vehicle to flip and land on its roof.

The driver of the ambulance and two EMTs ended up at the hospital.  The patient they were transporting died from his injuries.
