Suspect charged in November murder of college student

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKRC) -- A Hamilton County grand jury indicted a suspect in the murder of a college student, shot and killed during a home invasion robbery at his family's Springfield Township home.

Damon Kirkendall faces charges of aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

Last November, Vince Turnage, Junior was at his family's Tassie Lane for a weekend visit. Two gunmen broke into the home and held his family at gunpoint upstairs. Turnage was trying to get his girlfriend safely out of the house, when he was shot to death.

Turnage had an athletic scholarship to the University of Akron. He had played football, basketball and run track at Mt. Healthy.

No word yet on the second suspect. Kirkendall is already in jail on an unrelated charge.
