Child sex indictment: 8 victims, maybe more

FOREST PARK, Ohio (Paula Toti) -- A Forest park man is in jail Tuesday night accused of having sex with children.

A grand jury hands up an 11-count indictment against Christopher Charles.  He will be spending the night at the Justice Center.  Police got a tip back in January from a mother who thought her daughter might have been sexually assaulted by Charles who was an acquaintance.  Police say what came next was shocking.

29-year-old Christopher Charles was greeted by an officer as he walked into the Forecast Park Police Department Tuesday night.  Police say he has been living walking distance from the department on Hollingsworth with his mother.

The indictment includes two counts of rape.  Police say the victims not only knew Charles, many of them knew each other.  He didn't make any statements Tuesday night but did cooperate with investigators early on in the day.

"He's talked to us about some of the activities and helped up, but we're still interested in additional victims.  We believe that there are others we are not aware of at this point," Rich Jones of the Forest Park Police said.

Police believe the activity has been going on for at least two years.  They say he has not been charged with sex crimes before.  Officials also say a search of his home did not turn up child sex photos.

Investigators say the number of victims is shocking and even more surprising.  The girls involved believe they may have actually encouraged or solicited other victims in some way.

Police say they want other victims to come forward.  They're afraid there are children that might need help that are not getting it.
