Theft and fraud suspect turns herself in to police

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- One of the players in a massive fraud investigation turns herself in to authorities.

Janet Combs was processed at the Hamilton County Justice Center Wednesday and is out on her own recognizance Wednesday night.  Her attorney tells us that Combs has also agreed to surrender her passport to authorities.

Combs was recently named in an indictment along with Ohio State Representative Peter Beck.  The charges, which include theft, fraud and securities violations, grew out of a Local 12 News investigation.

Also named in the indictment is a church Combs ran called Ark By he River in Linwood.  Investigators say the church and Combs received more than 600,000 dollars which investors believed were going to fund "start up" companies.  Officials tell us the the attorneys for Combs and Beck were both in court Wednesday morning.

Bond was set at 50,00 dollars for Beck and he is expected to turn himself in Thursday.  Beck was indicted last summer on 16 charges that are similar to the 53 new ones.  It's not clear if all of those cases will be combined.
