Butler County Prepares for Storm

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- Oxford is expected to be one of the first areas to feel the weather forecasted for the winter storm.

Snow and ice are both major concerns for the area.  Emergency management people are getting ready for significant ice that could lead to power outages.

If widespread electrical outages occur because of the ice, EMA will set up shelters and warming centers in the area.  They would also coordinate with the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

Here is what you can do to prepare for an outage according to Jeff Galloway, EMA Director:

-Keep the heat on in your home.
-Keep house warm and insulated.
-If you do loose power, the house should retain the heat throughout the night until power is restored.
-If long term power outage, EMA will provide information on long-term sheltering.
