Landslide closes Elberon Avenue

EAST PRICE HILL, Ohio (Tiffany Wilson) -- Crews are cleaning up a landslide in East Price Hill Friday and hope to reopen Elberon by the afternoon rush commute.

The problem shut down both outbound lanes on Elberon near Mt. Hope Road. Crews say it's a relatively minor slide. They've been working since 9 a.m. to clear about 130 cubic yards of debris.

Melting snow and Thursday's rain created the right conditions for a landslide. Traffic and road supervisor, Jarrod Bolden isn't surprised. "It started moving yesterday and we were monitoring it and it moved a little bit more overnight so we got out here this morning and started cleaning it up about 9am this morning."

Crews have been using frontloaders to put the dirt and debris into dump trucks. They're hauling it away to a site in Newtown. At one point a funeral procession did have to detour due to the slide.
