Local student charged with bringing weapon to school

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) -- A Holmes High School student is charged with bringing a gun to school.

The district sent home a letter to parents Tuesday saying the school Resource Officer recovered the gun about ten minutes after the student brought it on campus. (CLICK HERE to see the letter.)  Administrators received a tip that led them to the weapon.

The student told officers he went home near the end of the school day to get the weapon.  He intended to sell it at school.

Administrators say the student never made any threats against anyone.  They've turned the issue over to Kenton County Police who arrested the teen who is now charged with bringing a weapon to school.
