Crews very busy fixing potholes

CINCINNATI (WKRC) --  Snow and ice could be a problem during the morning commute, but the warm up we saw over the weekend could add another obstacle out on the roads.

Whenever they don't have to clear snow, road crews are dealing with potholes. The number is growing day by day.

When we have extreme cold temperatures like we have the past few weeks, then we get a big warmup like we saw on Saturday, we get potholes. Cracks in the road deter
extreme cold, then big warmup like saturday cracks in the road deteriorate and become potholes.

Crews are taking their coal mix and patching the roads. Between pothole fixes and salting the roads, they have been very busy. "The crews are working 12 hour shifts, they work hard. And then once the snow is gone they're back filling potholes repairing traffic signals, stop signs. They're tired," says Larry Whitaker of City Public Services.

There's still much to do.
