Medical Edge: Cupcakes and Cocktails

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- You'd never know it when you look at Shawte Hodge now but a few years ago she would have never had the courage to even come into this BCBG Maxazria and try on outfits for a fashion show and fundraiser called Cupcakes and Cocktails.

She tells us, "I felt broken."

That broken feeling she said came from a number of broken relationships

Shawte continues, "One of the biggest things that I dealt with was rejection. I was rejected, I dealt with a lot of different issues with rejection."

But all that changed she said when she had a chance to reach out to an organization of women helping other women.  It is called the Eve Center and it offers free help.  It helped her get all of her confidence back and that is what the Eve Center director, Cinny Roy who is also part of the upcoming fashion show, says the Eve Center is all about.

The goal for each person seeking help is to have them know, through one on one free counseling that they aren't alone.

Cinny Roy said, "We've been where she is and we can see her through that process."

Shawnte talks about the center, "The Eve Center is a place where you are safe, it is a judgmental free zone.  You can be open, you can share some of your deepest secrets."

Since it's often said that we are only as strong as our secrets, Shawnte Hodge says she shares her story now to say, don't lose hope.  Healing happens in a lot of ways one step at a time.

Cupcakes and Cocktails is Friday night, February 28th at the Clovernook Country Club.  Tickets are still available and you can CLICK HERE for event details.
