Lakota student in court for gun at school

HAMILTON, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A Lakota West student accused of bringing a gun to school appeared in court Thursday.

DeAngelo Jones answered to a charge of illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone, by video arraignment.

Police were notified on Tuesday after school staff got a tip about the gun. They found the 9 mm handgun in his backpack which was left inside his car. School officials told parents the gun was never inside the school, however it's illegal to have a gun on any school property.

A judge ordered him held on one-thousand dollars bond. No word what disciplinary action the district may take.
