Two killed in Clermont County crash identified

WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A single vehicle crash claims two lives Monday morning. The car went into a ditch off State Route 133 in Williamsburg Township Clermont County. OSP says 18-year-old Crystal Rump and her mother, 42-year-old Cindy Rump were killed in the crash.

An Ohio State Highway officer was driving on the road just before 9 a.m., near the intersection of Ashton Road, when he discovered the vehicle in the ditch.

It appears the vehicle was headed southbound. At a curve, it went off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Two people were inside. The trooper immediately called for help, but it was already too late. Two dogs were also killed.

While the accident reconstruction team hasn't determined what contributed to the crash, the Lieutenant of the Batavia post says they've had to respond to a lot of accidents this morning. "A big thing that we would always push is for drivers to slow down, take the extra time you need, drivers need to slow down a little bit." The Rumps were not wearing their seatbelts.

Troopers closed State Route 133 during the investigation. It reopened at about 11:30 a.m.
