Fruit growers concerned, extent of loss unknown

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The sunshine may not be enough to save much of the Ohio fruit crop.

Growers are sure there is damage, they just don't know the extent of it yet.  Warmer temperatures and a complete thaw will be necessary for that evaluation.  Some farmers used microscopes to examine cuttings from their crops and very few of them appeared to still be alive.

The effects of the cold may also vary by fruit.  Apple trees are more resilient in the cold, while peaches are more sensitive.
