Former Xavier player sues school claiming damaged reputation

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A former Xavier basketball player will face the school in court.

Dez Wells claims the university and President Michael Graham ruined his reputation with a false rape conviction.  The school expelled him after a woman accused him of rape in 2012.  But, the charge was dismissed when a grand jury decided not to indict him.
A judge Wednesday allowed most of the claims in a lawsuit filed by Wells to go to trial.

The university's decision to expel Wells still stands; however, the judge dismissed the sex discrimination and deliberate indifference claims against President Graham, but the claims survived against the university.
