Streets closed to through traffic across from Rookwood development
OAKLEY, Ohio (WKRC) -- The days of taking the back roads through an Oakley neighborhood to avoid traffic from a busy shopping center are over.
Three streets across from the new Rookwood development are now permanently closed to through traffic. They include Atlantic, Arbor and Hyde Park Avenue.
People in the community were fed up with drivers speeding through their neighborhood in an effort to avoid Edwards road. Organizers have worked on trying to get these three streets closed for more than a year.
At a news conference today, Cincinnati mayor John Cranley says this is a win-win situation for the community since the solution provides safer streets for everyone.
