Who tragedy gets foundation for public memorial

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A memorial to eleven people who died trying to get into a local rock concert is closer to becoming a reality.

In 1979, those victims were trampled to death while trying to get into a "Who" concert at what is now US Bank Arena.  Organizers want a memorial near the site.  Friday they announced a foundation has been set up for that purpose.

Tom Brown, President of "Who Concert Memorial," said, "To conceive, fund, construct, and maintain a permanent memorial on the plaza level of US Bank Arena and establish and fund a scholarship fund to each high school our fallen attended."

The group hopes to dedicate a memorial to the victims of the Who tragedy within the next three years.
