Health Alert: Stroke Risk

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- A report released Wednesday has an important warning about blood pressure and your risk of having a stroke.

Not sure how much time you are actually spending a day sitting but sitting can influence many things including blood pressure.  We are with the Pohl family to tell you more about this study.

This study  published in the Journal Neurology suggests you do everything you can to bring blood pressure down including reduce sit time, get more active and watch your diet.  Researchers found even pre-hypertension can raise the risk of stroke.

Those who had just slightly high blood pressure, which is now defined as anything slightly above 120 over 80, were 66 percent more likely to have a stroke than those who were below them.  If you know your numbers are creeping up have a conversation with your doctor.  Many things can influence this including how much time you sit as opposed to time you are active.
