Facebook and Local 12 help return missing class ring

CINCINNATI (Paula Toti) -- We'll start at the end because you already know there's good news.

Rob Workley is wearing his class ring after long ago losing it.

He said, "Probably about 25 to 26 years ago.  In travels between Cincinnati and northeast Ohio where I grew up."

The school was Lakeview High School as the ring would say and the town, Cortland.  It was found back then in a Kroger parking lot outside Columbus.  Tara Thompson found it as a teenager but even with Rob's name inside she didn't know how to find him and tucked it away at her mom's house.

A few weeks ago she decided to put the whole mystery on Local 12's Facebook page.  Right after, Rob was looking at Facebook.

He said, "I started getting messages from people I know and some I didn't with links to Local 12's Facebook page and a photo there."

Facebook viewers like Angela Hall who live in Adams County contacted Rob.  And Rob contacted Local 12 who put him in touch with the founder.  Tara, talked to us by phone from her new home in Mansfield, Ohio.

"I know if someone found something of mine I'd want them to return it someday," she said.

The interesting thing about Tara is she tried to reach Rob back in December but because they aren't friends on Facebook, Rob's settings wouldn't let her message go through.  She thought about it again after her son went into her mom's jewelery box and found the ring.

The two met up in Columbus to exchange the ring and Rob said it's going to take some getting used to wearing it again!
