Boone County man found dead in overturned truck in creek identified

BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) -- A man is dead after his truck was found overturned in a creek in southern Boone County Tuesday night.

A friend went to check on the victim, 75-year-old Walter Boyd, who lived on Big Oak Road, at about 10 p.m. That's not far from Big Bone Lick State Park. Boyd's friend was worried because no one had heard from him since 10 a.m. The friend found Boyd in his truck in the creek on Boyd's property.

Boone County Sheriff's deputies say those who knew Boyd believe he drove down to get his mail due to the bad weather. His truck likely slid off the bridge that crosses the creek. Investigators don't have a cause of death yet. They do believe it's an unfortunate accident.
