Westwood Square improvements announced
WESTWOOD, Ohio (WKRC) -- Improvements are on the way for the Westwood Square.
"Westwood is one of our great historic neighborhoods, like so many parts of our city it's ripe for revitalization, bring in new people, new residents, new families, new jobs," says Mayor John Cranley.
Cranley announced this revitalization project today with the help of the Madcap Puppets. The arts play a big role in the community
The city hopes to not only breathe life back into the businesses already in the neighborhood, but bring in new business as well.
One person who supports the project, but could not attend today's news conference is city council member Kevin Flynn. "I was invited to it, they specifically asked me to come yesterday to join on this celebration and obviously doesn't feel good to be excluded."
It turns out the Bell Exchange building on Harrison Avenue, where organizers scheduled today's news conference, is not handicap accessible.
Flynn says he hopes some of the money earmarked for this project will go to bring buildings in the neighborhood up to today's building codes.
