Cabbie murder suspects held on high bonds
CINCINNATI (Rich Jaffe) -- Two suspects in the brutal murder of a cab driver were in court Friday morning but they won't be going anywhere soon. The two are accused in the robbery and murder of Mamadou Diop.
Both the suspects have lengthy criminal histories and Judge Meghan Shanahan saw to it that they won't be getting out by setting bond on each of them at more than a million dollars.
Keyawhan Lowe and Dakeith Pleasant are charged with murder and aggravated robbery. The well respected cab driver for Ran's Taxi, also called Moustafa, was shot late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning behind the wheel of his cab, on Baltimore Avenue in North Fairmount.
Police believe the motive was robbery and quickly arrested the pair Thursday. In court for their first appearance, justice was swift. "The defendant was on community control at the time of the offense, obviously very serious, one million."
"He's got a holder from adult parole authority, very good a million dollars straight on the murder, a hundred thousand dollars straight on the aggravated robbery."
The case against both Lowe and Pleasant is expected to go to a Hamilton County grand jury on March 24.
