Boston crews battling 9-alarm blaze

BOSTON (CBS) Several firefighters have been taken to the hospital after being pulled from a 9-alarm fire on Beacon Street.
The multi-alarm fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at 298 Beacon Street. Several mayday calls were made.

Three firefighters have been taken to area hospitals. One is in serious condition.
Boston EMS says 10 patients in total have been taken to the hospital. Several of the patients were taken to Brigham and Womens and two to Massachusetts General Hospital.
No residents of the building have been reported missing, according to authorities.  Boston Fire says the building is a 4-story brownstone and the fire started in the basement and extended up through the building.
Firefighters are trying to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings given the close proximity and strong winds.
Storrow Drive inbound is shut down as crews battle the fire. Beacon Street is closed from Arlington to Mass Ave.
The building is assessed at $1,628,500, according to property records.
The Suffolk County District Attorneys office is responding to the scene.
