16-year-old killed in I-275 crash identified

CALIFORNIA, Ohio (WKRC) -- Cincinnati Police identify the victim of a fatal crash on I-275 through California, Ohio as 16-year-old Damion Henderson
Police say the driver of the car Henderson was riding in, 41-year-old Larry Molloy, lost control of his Mercedes SUV, struck a guardrail then went back across four lanes of traffic and hit a wall.

Henderson was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown through the rear window of the SUV. He was taken to Mercy Hospital Anderson, where he died.

Molloy and two other teenage passengers were not hurt. Police say speed, alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt were factors in the crash.

Henderson was a sophomore at Amelia High School. Principal Keith Hickman released a statement reading in part, "A young person's death is always tragic, and a sudden loss like this can have a profound effect on fellow students. It is important that we recognize this loss and offer help to our students. We have counselors on site throughout the day to talk with students needing support. On behalf of Amelia High School, I have extended our sincere condolences to the Damion's family on this sad occasion.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Henderson family."

Donations can be made to Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.
