Cincinnati Recreation Commission holding job fair Wednesday

EVANSTON, Ohio (Perry Schaible) -- The Cincinnati Recreation Commission is looking for teens and young adults who are excited to work for the organization.

The recommendation is to show that enthusiasm tonight when talking to representatives on hand at the job fair.

The job fair is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Evanston Recreation Center. Positions are available to teens as young as 14-years-old.

There are jobs open for lifeguards, pool monitors, summer day camp staff and junior counselors. These are competitive positions. Usually, there are more applications than available spots.

The teens who do get a position learn a lot.

"What our kids do is they learn a variety of skills. They're learning job training skills, such as resume writing. They're also learning workplace communication and then several job training opportunities," says Christian Armstrong Owens of CRC.

Applications are accepted online. A CRC representative will be available at the job fair to explain how to apply on the organization's website.

There will also be other agencies at the job fair tonight. Cincinnati State, Brown Mackie College, Lighthouse Youth Services and the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative will all be there.
