Former NKU AD pleads guilty to theft

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) -- Former NKU athletic director, Scott Eaton, pleaded guilty to felony theft charges in a Campbell County courtroom Thursday.

The university fired Scott Eaton after learning he had inappropriate relationships with several women, including four on his staff and one student.

During the investigation, university officials say they learned Eaton diverted university funds for his personal use during a six year period. He used his university procurement card to buy more than $260,000 in gift cards for personal use. Another $49,000 in university funds were misused through false receipts and university printing services.

As part of his guilty plea, Eaton agreed to pay NKU $311,215 in restitution. The Commonwealth is recommending a 10 year sentence. Eaton will be formally sentenced  on May 20.
