Voluntary offseason workouts to begin for Bengals

CINCINNATI (Perry Schaible) -- Excitement is building at Paul Brown Stadium as the Bengals players return for voluntary offseason workouts. It's the first phase of the NFL's 9-week off-season workout program.

The first two weeks are limited to strength, conditioning and physical rehabilitation. No coaches will be at these workouts, except for those designated in those areas.

These are voluntary so not all of the players will attend. The workouts are closed.

This is the first phase in the nine week program. Phase two will have on-field workouts, including individual training and drills. Phase three will be OTAs, organized team activities.

One big consideration before the start of the season is draft day. The Bengals will have the 24th pick in the first round in the draft on Thursday, May 8.
