CFD medics gets brand new technology
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Cincinnati firefighters and first responders now have brand new life-saving tools.
The Tempus Pro vital signs monitor is state-of-the-art technology. The Cincinnati Fire Department is the first in the country to use it.
Now medics will have the ability to send real time information, including vital signs and photographs of victims, back to doctors in the hospital.
"This tool will enhance the capabilities of our medics in the field basically bringing our doctors to them when our medics arrive," says Cincinnati Fire Department Chief Richard Braun. "It has been used in the military, in Afghanistan, it will now be used for the general public as we add to the capabilities and the great job our medics do day in and day out."
The cost for each device is $20,000. Funding for the equipment came largely from the Western and Southern Financial Group. Each of the four Cincinnati fire districts will receive a unit. Crews call the new equipment a game changer.
