TN police: Man faked hostage situation to get cash from mom

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (CNN) -- In Tennessee, police arrest a man they say faked being held hostage in order to get a ransom from his mom.

Zachery Logsdon's mother called police after her son sent her text messages claiming his "dealer" was going to kill him if he didn't get 200 dollars. But she was suspicious -- she says he'd pulled a similar stunt in the past to try to get money for drugs.

She called 9-1-1, and police arranged a drop-off spot for the money.

When Logsdon, 25, showed up, police ran him down and arrested him. Police say he repeated the story about being taken hostage. But when his story kept changing, they charged him with filing a false report and resisting arrest.
