Police: Alcohol involved in fatal crash on I-71

NORWOOD, Ohio (WKRC) -- Norwood Police, investigating a fatal accident on I-71 early Wednesday morning, say alcohol was involved in the crash.

A Range Rover slammed into an Ohio Department of Transportation construction truck in the northbound lanes between the Smith Edwards exit and the Norwood Lateral at 1:30 a.m.

Emergency crews cut the roof off of the car to try to rescue the car's driver, but he died at the scene. Police haven't released his name.

An ODOT worker was also hurt. That worker was taken to the hospital but has already been released.

I-71 was shut down in the area for some time. All lanes reopened at about 6:30 a.m.
