Benefit dinner held to help man with rare disorder

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A follow-up to a story Local 12 brought you Tuesday night.

Friends, family, and total strangers rally to help a man who's essentially trapped inside his own body.  Brett Walls suffered three strokes and two aneurysms.  He was diagnosed with a rare disorder called "Locked-In Syndrome."  This syndrome basically leaves him unable to communicate even though he's aware of what's happening around him.

Walls' family learned Friday that his insurance will not cover the treatment at Drake Center that has been proving successful thus far.  So, the money raised at Friday and Saturday night's dinners at the Symphony Hotel in Over-The-Rhine will go toward that and other expenses.
