Suspected drunk driver in deadly crash fights charges

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A suspected drunk driver charged with hitting and killing a three-year-old child more than two years ago, appears in court Thursday.
Police say Sheba Basabose failed a test that showed she was drunk at the time of the deadly crash in Westwood on October 8, 2012. Now her attorneys are working to get that test thrown out.

Police say Basabose hit Jocelyn Austin and her three children with her car. The crash killed three-year-old Rodriguez Taylor.

During the hearing, attorneys questioned police officers on the scene that day. At issue is whether Basabose understood enough English to comprehend her Miranda rights and other questions. They also question whether the intoxilyzer test was calibrated correctly and administered properly.

Basabose faces charges aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault. She is currently held without bond.
