Gas explosion destroys buildings in Washington State

NORTH BEND, Wash. (WKRC) -- Debris was scattered over a five block area in a natural gas explosion in Washington state.

Three buildings were destroyed, several others damaged in the blast in North Bend, which is about 30 miles east of Seattle.

No reports of any major injuries in the pre-dawn blast. The timing may have saved many lives.

Investigators are still trying to sort through what happened, but right now the explosion is believed to been centered in either a restaurant that was undergoing renovations or a barber shop.  Both those businesses were destroyed.
