New Riff distillery to open in May
BELLEVUE, Ky. (Angela Ingram) -- Bourbon lovers will soon be able to watch, taste and learn at the new Riff distillery in Bellevue. It's preparing for its grand opening.
The distillery is in a prime location just over the bridge from downtown Cincinnati and in the same parking lot as the Party Source. People who have been working on the project for months are hoping to make it a tourist attraction.
The design of New Riff distillery is open tourist friendly with glass so that just about everything is highly visible. It's been in the works for about three years.
"So you're standing in Kentucky's newest craft distillery which means we are smaller than the big guys the heritage distillers of Kentucky. We've got ourselves a nice big 24 inch column still, but we make Kentucky bourbon and rye whiskey here," says Hannah Lowen.
If you want to have a party here, you can rent a space on the rooftop with in and outdoor seating. And staff members are ready to teach the public about how bourbon is made. Workers say the distillery will be a tourist destination.
"We think it's going to drive tourism to our area. We're very excited to be right down the road from the aquarium and all of the revitalization of downtown Cincinnati. We're hoping to be another anchor points for the area."
The distillery will also produce gins, rums, and other various whiskeys. Workers are hoping that the facility help celebrate Kentucky's rich history of bourbon.
"There is a boom in bourbon right now, all over the country, all over the world. We are excited to be a part of that, the greater Cincinnati community, greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky."
The distillery will have its grand opening May 8.
