Police treating swastika painted on Jewish mans door as hate crime
PRICE HILL, Ohio (Angenette Levy) -- Graffiti on a home could be classified as a hate crime.
A Jewish man woke up Thursday morning to find a swastika painted on his front door. A detective at District Three is investigating the swastika that Ralph Ford found painted on his door.
Ford is Jewish and he says police told him they're treating this as a hate crime. Ford said he and his wife found the swastika painted on the door of his house on Wells Street around 7:30 Thursday morning. He said he's lived on Wells for a couple of years but in the last couple of months some of the neighbors have yelled "white power" and other slurs.
Ford told us about how he felt when he saw spray paint on his door, "We were both shocked when we came out and there is a swastika painted on my front door. I had cold chills run all the way through me and I was kind of fearful. Not sure where it came from or who put it there. Very unnerving."
When Local 12 arrived at Ford's house, a child at his next door neighbor's house yelled, "Heil Hitler." Angenette Levy asked the woman at the house what she thought about the swastika and she said she thought it was funny.
