Attorney requesting mental health evaluation for school stabbing suspect

PITTSBURGH (CBS News) -- 16-year old alex hribal has been charged  with multiple counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault for Wednesday's school stabbings that injured 22 people.
"He's frightened, depressed, scared," says his attorney Patrick Thomassey who is requesting a mental health evaluation. "I think he's sort of at a loss. I think he's trying to figure out how in the world this happened. This is not a violent kid. This is not a dysfunctional family."

Police say hribal ran through the hallways of Franklin Regional Senior High School with two kitchen knives. 21 students and a security guard were injured. At least two patients are still on ventilators

Hribal is being charged as an adult. His lawyer says he will try to convince a judge to send the case to juvenile court.

Authorities say the attack could have been a lot worse if not for the quick response of the assistant principal and a student who helped tackle the teen. "Mr. King immobilized him I jumped on him as well and just held down his wrists and arms."

Police searched Hribal's home and confiscated a computer, looking for a motive.  Prosecutors say after he was taken into custody he made comments suggesting he wanted to die.
