Shot fired at Kent State

KENT, Ohio (WKRC) -- One building at Kent State University was put on lockdown Wednesday night as police search for a man who fired a gun on campus.

The shot was heard near Bowman Hall.  A text alert was sent to students and staff just before 9p.m. that advised people to seek shelter.  A tweet sent out by the university said, "Stay away from area.  If in area, seek shelter until further notice."

There are no reported injuries.  Students and staff were escorted out by police.  Police are looking for a black, male suspect wearing basketball shorts carrying a silver handgun.

Officials think the shooter may still be in the administration building.
