Representative calling for impeachment of judge who ruled Ohio will recognize out-of-state gay marriages

UNION TOWNSHIP (WKRC) -- A local lawmaker calls for the impeachment of a federal judge who plans to issue a ruling ordering Ohio to recognize out-of-state gay marriages.

Republican state representative John Becker of Union Township first called for judge Timothy Black's removal in September after Black ruled in a separate case involving gay marriages.

Today Becker re-iterated that call.

On Friday Judge Black promised the ruling in a lawsuit brought by several same-sex couples who want to force the state to put names of both parents on birth certificates.

Becker has filed a resolution for Congress to impeach Black.

Judge Black has not commented on Becker's efforts. The lawmaker faces some long odds.

Congress has only removed eight federal judges in history.
