Juvenile arrested after Fairfield car chase

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A juvenile is arrested after a car chase in Fairfield Thursday morning.

Fairfield police received reports Wednesday that several cars had been broken into between the 3700-4200 block of Hamilton-Mason Road. Five vehicles had been entered and rummaged through overnight. All of the cars were unlocked and several items were stolen. Two of the cars had their steering columns tampered with, and a Nissan Maxima had been stolen.

At 4 a.m. two officers saw the stolen Nissan Maxima traveling north on Tuley Road. The officers attempted a felony traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and fled from the police.

Police pursued the vehicle, and the suspect and passenger got out of the car on Paoli Avenue and ran.

The officers apprehended the 17-year-old passenger, who resisted arrest. The juvenile later admitted he had a role in the car break-ins and the stolen Maxima. He is facing charges of resisting arrest and assault. Further charges are pending.

Investigators are still looking for the alleged driver.
