SWAT standoff leads to one dead in officer involved shooting

WARREN COUNTY, Ohio. (WKRC) -- Officials of the Warren County Tactical Response Unite were involved in a standoff and officer involved shooting Monday evening.

The shooting happened in the 4800 block of Lebanon Road in South Lebanon.  Deputies were originally at the residence to serve a domestic violence protection order shortly after 5p.m. when a male barricaded himself in a residence.  According to the Warren County Sheriff's press release, the man threatened uniformed deputies and had at least one firearm.

56-year-old Gary Cook was the subject of the domestic violence protection order.  He was required to leave the residence after his relatives petitioned the court.  Cook engaged in aggressive action against police officials on the scene and was shot.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave.  This is routine procedure in this type of incident.

The event is under investigation.
