444,000 smoke alarms recalled

PALO ALTO, Calif. (WKRC) -- Nest Labs is recalling 440,000 smoke alarms because the alarm may not go off immediately.

This device is the Nest Protect Smoke CO alarm. The high tech alarm connects to the internet. The alarms have a Nest Wave feature, which allows users to temporarily silence some alerts or cancel a manual test by vigorously waving an arm near the unit that triggered the alarm. Nest Labs says too much activity near the alarm can cause the problem.

The alarms were sold nationwide at national retailers and online from November 15, 2013 to April 3, 214. The company, which is owned by Google, is offering an electronic update to fix the problem.

Owners can call (800) 249-4280 or click here for more information.
