New Miami increases spending

NEW MIAMI, Ohio (WKRC) -- Traffic cameras helped New Miami speed up its spending before a judge's order against cameras.

New Miami bought new cars, trucks and equipment before a judge ordered the speed cameras be shut off back in February.

The Middletown-Hamilton Journal News reports that village spending increased by roughly $430,000 in 2013. That was the only full year the cameras were in use.

Butler County Common Pleas judge, Michael Sage, ruled in favor of drivers who say the cameras violated their rights to due process.
